Have not been on here in forever! I'll be working on updating my galleries in the next few days. I definitely have done new projects, since I last signed in x_x;

If anyone has questions or would like to just see my costume progress, I update much more frequently on my Facebook.

This is literally the first time I've logged on DA, since like September? I've been terribly neglectful of this little piece of the internet of mine the past couple months and I'm terribly sorry, guys! I know I have several messages that I need to look at and for any new watchers that I may have, thank you for adding my page! So, what have I been up to the past couple months? I've been taking several graphic design courses to beef up my skills as a designer and illlustrator, along with juggling work, and crafting. Very busy x_x; Next up in my line up for conventions as Katsucon, which I'm absolutely excited for! I've been updating my FB page www.facebook.com/pages/Dessi-D… with progress photos of what's to come. Right now, I'm working on a Sakizou costume and Viola from Soul Calibur V. Sakizou is very close to being done, but Viola has quite a bit left. Let's see if I can make the most of the next couple months >:]

I'm back!

Wow, I have not posted up here in forever! Anyways, I attended Otakon a couple weeks ago and had the chance to debut three new costumes (Rarity, Sailor Venus, and Deedlit). All in all I had fun and got to meet some new faces and chat with some old ones. Honestly, that is what I love most about this hobby and conventions. You get to meet so many other creative mined individuals that you may not be able to meet elsewhere.

I really don't have any definite plans, except for Katsucon. I would like to go to AUSA, but I'm pretty unsure about it. I'm going to be a busy bee this year and will be taking some graphic design courses, throughout the year. I'm pretty excited and hope that it will open some new doors for me. During all this, I'm going to try my best to produce some new costume work for everyone to see. As of right now, I'm shooting for only two new costumes for Katsucon. Viola from Soul Calibur 5 www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi… and Sakizou's carousel pony artwork www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi… I rather have two new costumes that I'm proud of, than a bunch of mediocre ones. I really would like to make Lili from Tekken, also, but I guess we'll see how I feel in December...

I've already started making a decent dent in my Sakizou costume and have been posting progress shots on my FB page www.facebook.com/pages/Dessi-D… I've always wanted to make something frilly with a lot of little details, so I'm very excited for this costume!

Hi, everyone! I hadn't written up here, since Katsucon, so I decided to go ahead and post something new c: Recently, I was interviewed by JapanCinema.net, which was actually a pretty thought provoking and interesting interview. I really enjoyed writing my answers and tried to make it as fun to read as I possibly could. I talk about a lot of things that I feel are interesting or important, such as creative visions in the cosplay scene and how my artistic background impacted my interest in cosplay. If anyone is curious, you can read my interview here japancinema.net/2012/03/16/cos…

Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to attend the DC Sakura Matsuri cosplay fashion show (again...). I really wanted to attend this year and had the perfect spring weather appropriate costume for the event. Originally, I was planning on wearing my artbook Umi costume, which I didn't get to wear for very long at Katsucon. I had my hopes set on possibly getting some photos with some columns or something because DC is full of neo-classical structures, which is perfect for the Grecian aesthetic CLAMP had in the reference art. Oh, well. Maybe some other time ^^;

Right now, I'm trying to get motivated to start on some summer stuff. I'm thinking about doing another Umi costume gallery.minitokyo.net/view/240… and cosplaying Aya (the girl with strawberry blonde hair) from this artwork gallery.minitokyo.net/view/715… from Ayashi No Ceres. I recently re-watched the series and forgot how much I loved it. It's so easy to sympathize with the characters and the story is wonderfully thought out. I would really love to show this series some love by making a costume based on it. I love Fushigi Yuugi to bits, but it seems to overshadow Ceres quite a bit X_x

On a sidenote, I decided to make an album with some of my illustration work on my cosplay Facebook page. For me, my artwork and cosplay are so intertwined. I thought it might be neat for people to see where my tastes are derived from. With a few exceptions, the majority of my current costumes and future/dream projects have some sort of whimsical quality. That whimsical quality is also reflected in my own illustration work. www.facebook.com/media/set/?se…

Oh, wow! This Katsucon was by far my best con experience, so far. I can't believe how much I have grown as a cosplayer, in the span of a year. I'm very excited to share photos of my cosplays with everyone, as they make their way onto the web.

Friday I spent the early part of the day helping TresWildCosplay, while she cosplayed Magik as Darkchilde. Afterwards, I got suited up for Meru and trekked the con doing some photoshoots, until it was time to meet up with my group. I had so much fun shooting with FireLilyCosplay and EmmyLou. Thank you, for inviting me to join in on your group!

Saturday I spent the early part of the day in Freya. I was so happy with how this costume worked with the convention space. When I started work on Freya, I actually made it with the Gaylord in mind. The curtains in the gazebo area were actually nearly the exact golden yellow color on my costume. It was pretty crazy! I did some photoshoots, along with shadowhearts as Chii. Thank you, for braving the cold with me and being my Chobits counterpart. I can't wait to see how our photos together turned out.

Later that night was Cowboy Bebop with TresWildCosplay and my boyfriend. Honestly, this was probably the biggest highlight of my weekend. My boyfriend is such a good sport and very supportive of this quirky little hobby of mine, so I was very happy to include him in a Cowboy Bebop cosplay group, as Spike. We all had a blast together and our costumes were so well received by everyone. None of us smoke, but we even bought a pack of cigarettes to use for photos. Julia is a pretty simple costume, but it is probably now one of my favorite costumes to wear because it's pretty low fuss. Had I not been wearing heels earlier that day, I probably would have worn the costume even longer.

Sunday was a bit hectic because we had to load everything in the car, while I was wearing Umi. The dress has about 12 yards of fabric in total, so racing around the hotel was a bit interesting, to say the least. After that, I was able to squeeze in a couple shoots and then hit the road.

Thank you so much to everyone that came over to say hi to me. Even if I was in a rush to get somewhere, it really made me feel very welcome and very flattered to hear positive feedback on the work I had brought to Katsu. I did spot a couple people around the con that I thought I recognized, but honestly I'm pretty shy, so I was a bit chicken to approach some people :p
