Series: Cowboy Bebop

This suit is probably one of the most mind boggling things. It's full of why's everywhere. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed wearing this at Katsucon with my wonderful group. Aside from the heels, this is probably my most comfortable costume.
Construction-wise I'm not completely satisfied with everything and want to make some revisions, especially in the legs. I patterned the whole suit myself and for some reason the legs did this weird wrap thing, which I'm not very happy about. Next time I wear this costume, I'm hoping to have the buckle casted. This time around because of weather and time constraints, I opted to just make one out of paperclay. It ended up cracking a little, which I expected, but for the most part it held up like a champ.
This was my very first time using vinyl! I used a 4-way stretch vinyl, which has a very beautiful sheen. I knew, when I made the decision to cosplay Julia, that I wanted the details on her suit that makes it distinctly her catsuit. I ended up studying reference images of her to figure out what all was going on. I decided to put some piping details along the zig-zags on the torso, under the bust, across the back, and I even did the weird butt piping that you can see going across Julia's bum in the infamous image of her and Spike together, with her back facing the viewer.
I really did enjoy wearing this costume and it was the highlight of my weekend. The costumes in our group were so well-received and it was so rewarding to see how excited it made Bebop fans around the con. I can't wait to make some improvements on it and wear it again.
